RADM Pearson is currently serving as the Commander, Maintenance and Logistics Command, Atlantic, coordinating maintenance and logistics support to Coast Guard units in the Atlantic Area. MLCLANT’s area of responsibility encompasses 40 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. The Command serves five Coast Guard Districts, 180 shore units, 156 cutters, 685 small boats and 54,642 active duty, reserve, auxiliary and civilian personnel. To meet these responsibilities MLCLANT has over 3300 personnel in both staff and field units. Previous assignment as a flag officer was as Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Coast Guard and Assistant Commandant for C4 and Information and Technology.
RADM Pearson’s earlier assignments were Director of Information and Technology in U. S. Coast Guard Headquarters; Director, Command, Control, Communications and Computers and Chief, Office of Communications Systems. Prior to that, he served as Commanding Officer, Telecommunications and Information Systems Command, Alexandria, VA developing and supporting the Coast Guard’s telecommunications and information systems. He served as Chief, Office of Information Systems Architecture and Planning.
RADM Pearson earlier served as Commanding Officer, Communications Area Master Station Atlantic, Chesapeake, VA providing long-range communications services in the Atlantic region to Coast Guard forces and other maritime operators. He also served as Chief Command, Control, Communications and Information Resources Management Staff Fifth Coast Guard District Portsmouth, VA, and as Chief, Engineering Computer Center for the Office of Engineering in Coast Guard Headquarters.
Prior assignments included program analyst in the Programs Division in the Office of Chief of Staff Coast Guard Headquarters, Port Operations Officer, Marine Safety Office Cincinnati, OH and Port Safety Officer, Thirteenth Coast Guard District, Seattle, WA.
RADM Pearson graduated from Officer Candidate School in Yorktown, VA and was commissioned in 1973. He is a 1972 graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Physics. He holds an M.S. from the University of Maryland in Information Systems.
RADM Pearson has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (two awards), the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation among other service medals and awards.
